The Indian cricket team will play the first 2-match Test series on the West Indies tour. The BCCI has announced the Test Squad for West Indies 2023 on Friday. Ajinkya Rahane, who impressed in the IPL and WTC thereafter, has been included as the vice-captain. Cheteshwar Pujara is out of the squad. Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, the BCCI announced a squad of 15 players. Recently, BCCI had dropped Ajinkya from its central contract. Rahane made a Test comeback on the basis of his performance in the IPL and was included in the World Test Championship. Where other batsmen of the Indian team were seen struggling, Rahane batted well there too. Now he has made a strong comeback once again, he has not only been included in the squad but has also been appointed as the vice-captain.
IND vs WI Test Squad: Pujara and Umesh out, Yashasvi Jaiswal got a chance
Cheteshwar Pujara, who is considered a big Test player, has not been included in the squad. Pujara disappointed a lot in the World Test Championship final as well, failing in both the innings after which he was trolled by the fans as well. Fast bowler Umesh Yadav has also been dropped from the squad. Rajasthan Royals batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has impressed in the IPL, has been named in the Test squad. He also went to England for the WTC final, where he was included as a reserve player.
