Starting a new era in the new year, the Indian cricket team has opened its account with a great win. In the third and last T20 match against Sri Lanka in Rajkot, Team India won the series by 2-1, winning by a huge margin of 91 runs. Team India, captained by Hardik Pandya, did wonders with the bat as well as the ball. Suryakumar Yadav laid the foundation with a fiery century, after which captain Pandya himself and other bowlers built the building of victory.
Close and thrilling matches in Mumbai and Pune followed by a one-sided game in Rajkot, where Team India completely dominated. With this, the Indian team further improved its strong record of success in the decisive matches of the T20 series. Not only this, the Indian team also maintained its streak of not losing the T20 series at home since 2020. This was the 12th series in India, in which no team could beat India.
Like Pune, Rajkot also scored a lot of runs, but this time only Team India did this work. On the basis of Surya’s unbeaten innings of 112 runs, India scored a big score of 228 runs losing 5 wickets. In response, the entire Sri Lankan team was settled for 137 runs till the 17th over. In the last match, Arshdeep Singh, who faced criticism from the number of no-balls, improved a bit this time and took the maximum 3 wickets for India. Apart from him, Captain Hardik himself, Yuzvendra Chahal and Umran Malik also took 2-2 wickets in their name.
Once again, Kusal Mendis made an aggressive start for Sri Lanka and took the team to 44 runs in the fifth over itself. As soon as Akshar Patel got his wicket, Sri Lanka’s innings suddenly started to break. Then wickets kept falling in between just a few runs. Chahal put Sri Lanka in the most trouble. The Indian leg-spinner took the wickets of Charit Aslanka and Dhananjaya de Silva in the 10th and 12th overs. Both these batsmen were trying to bring Sri Lanka back by raining runs.
After this, Hardik, Umran and Arshdeep ended the work by quickly uprooting the wickets of the middle order and tail enders and settling the Sri Lankan innings quickly. Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka also could not save the team this time.
