drop the catch
After Rohit’s dismissal, India needed a partnership which Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill provided. But this partnership would have broken long ago if the Sri Lankan fielders had not made a mistake. Sri Lanka dropped the catches of Gill and Kohli in the fifth and sixth overs. Dilshan Madhushanka was bowling the fifth over. Madhushanka bowled the ball outside the off stump, which Gill played with his front leg. The ball went to the point, where Charita Asalanka was standing. Asalanka dived to her left and tried to take the catch. The catch was quite difficult but such catches are taken on point. But Asalanka could not catch this catch. Gill was currently on nine runs. Kohli also missed the catch in the next over.
Kohli-Gill took advantage
Whereas Dushmantha Chameera dropped Kohli’s catch on the very first ball of the sixth over. The first ball was bowled by Chameera on the off stump, which came with a slight pause and Kohli started batting quickly. The ball hit Kohli’s bat and went to Chameera’s right side. Chameera dived but could not catch it. During this time his shoulder got injured. Both the batsmen took advantage of these two lifers and played brilliant innings. Kohli completed his half-century and then Gill also completed his 50 runs. Both of them made a century partnership.
