IND Vs SA: Virat Kohli, who is out of the Johannesburg Test, can break a record set by Rahul Dravid in the third and final Test against South Africa. Virat Kohli, the regular captain of Test Team India, is likely to return to the playing XI of the third Test. Kohli missed the second Test due to a back spasm. Both the teams are now tied at 1-1 in the series. Under his captaincy, Virat Kohli would like Team India to win the first Test series on South African soil. He also has a chance to break Rahul Dravid’s record in this match.
Kohli is just 14 runs away from overtaking current coach Rahul Dravid as India’s second-highest run-scorer in Tests in South Africa. Kohli, who averages around 50 in South Africa, has so far scored 611 runs against the Proteas in the longer format of the game. Dravid, on the other hand, scored 624 runs in a total of 11 Test matches played in South Africa. Top in this case is the legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 1,161 runs in 15 Test matches at an average of 46.44. Which includes three centuries and two fifties.
For the record, South Africa is the only place where India have not won a Test series yet. India registered a 113-run win over South Africa in the first Test at Centurion. However, in Kohli’s absence, India lost the second Test in Johannesburg by seven wickets. The third and final Test will begin in Cape Town on Tuesday, January 11.
