IND vs NZ: Rohit got injured while diving and got angry, video goes viral
Indian captain Rohit Sharma escaped serious injury during the India vs New Zealand (IND vs NZ) match at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Sunday. The incident occurred in the 10th over of the innings when Rohit slipped to stop the ball at mid-off, but his fingers got stuck between his body and the turf, following which he walked off the field.
The Indian captain became angry after seeing the poor outfield and immediately left the field for treatment. In his absence, wicketkeeper KL Rahul took over the captaincy. But after two overs, Rohit returned to the field. Head coach Jonathan Trott criticized the outfield and said that Mujeeb was lucky to escape serious injury.
Former England batsman Jonathan Trott said “We see players in cricket being encouraged to improve their fielding, but if they are afraid of diving, I mean we are lucky to have Mujeeb (Urdu) Rahman) did not suffer a serious knee injury in the end. We also saw New Zealand’s Devon Conway early (in the tournament opener against England on Thursday). There is something for him to see, but I am certainly not putting any blame on him for our defeat today.”
At present, India and New Zealand have not lost a single match in the World Cup 2023. In such a situation, a tough competition can be seen between the two teams. New Zealand is at first position in the points table while India is at second position with four wins.
