The Indian Cricket Team included IPL 2023 star Tilak Verma in the squad for the five-match T20 series against the West Indies (IND vs WI T20). Although captain Hardik Pandya gave him a place in the playing XI from the first match and he has performed brilliantly, after which former BCCI selector MSK Prasad has praised Tilak. Actually, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are not available due to their injuries, due to which Tilak can have additional players in the team for the World Cup 2023 and Asia Cup 2023.
Former BCCI selector MSK Prasad told PTI, “Look at his List A record for Hyderabad. He has played 25 List A games and averages over 55. Five centuries and five half-centuries. This means that at least 50 percent of the times he is converting a half-century into a century. Strike rate of over 100.
He further said that “It would not be a bad idea, provided Shreyas Iyer could not do it. Only then you can think of Verma. But I am sure he will continue to be a regular player for India in all formats going forward.”
Let us tell you that Tilak Verma has performed brilliantly in the first three matches of the five-match T20 series against the West Indies. Although during this he has also played a half-century innings. Tilak scored 39 in the first match, 50 in the second and 49 not out in the third.
