In the World Cup-2023, the Indian cricket team will play a warm-up match against the Netherlands on Tuesday (October 2). The match will be played in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Team India has a good opportunity to finalize its preparations in this match. The first warm-up match of the Indian team against England was canceled due to rain. Team India will try to ensure that all its star players enter the field and create fear in the opposition camp with their performance. Former captain Virat Kohli will also have an eye on this. Although Kohli did not participate in the practice session, but according to news agency PTI, he can play in the practice match.
Virat Kohli had gone from Guwahati to Mumbai on September 30 due to personal reasons. The former Indian captain was not available for the evening practice session on Monday. Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) sources said that this was an optional practice session. He is likely to join the team soon and if needed, he will play in the practice match.
Apart from Kohli, captain Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, fast bowler Mohammed Shami also did not participate in the practice session. Star opener Shubhman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, spinner R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja took part in the practice session.
Last chance to test preparation
The practice match against Netherlands will be the last chance for the Rohit brigade to test their preparation before the start of the tournament. The tournament will start from October 5 while India will play its first match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. Suryakumar Yadav has a good chance to strengthen his claim for a place in the team by performing brilliantly in the practice match.
Former Team India player Ravi Shastri said that if India’s top order batsman performs well then you can play either Suryakumar or Shreyas Iyer. If all the players are scoring runs then this batsman (Suryakumar) can prove to be a trump card for you. In Indian conditions, our top order batsmen hardly have to struggle and in such a situation Surya will be included in my playing eleven.
