Afghanistan’s bowlers did something that no one had even thought against Australia at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday. Afghanistan batted first in this match and gave Australia a target of 292 runs. After this, the sharp bowling of the Afghan bowlers left half of the Australian team in the pavilion for only 49 runs. It seemed that the Afghan bowlers would destroy the Australian team quickly but Glenn Maxwell played an inning that left Afghanistan breathless. Maxwell took on the Afghan bowlers alone and scored runs at a stormy pace. In his own style, he first scored a century and then converted it into a double century, giving Australia a three-wicket win.
This is Maxwell’s second century in this World Cup. Earlier, Maxwell had completed a century in 40 balls against Netherlands in the same World Cup, which is the fastest century in the ODI World Cup. Meanwhile, Afghanistan had made a mistake. The team dropped Maxwell’s catch and Maxwell took full advantage of it and played a brilliant innings. Earlier, Mujeeb was caught by Mujeeb on the fifth ball of the 22nd over, when Maxwell was on 33 runs.
make a big noise
After this Maxwell did not stop. He gave class to every bowler of Afghanistan. Be it Rashid Khan or Noor Ahmed. Whoever came in front of him was beaten. He made a century partnership with captain Pat Cummins, but Maxwell scored most of the runs in this partnership. Both of them together made a partnership of 202 runs for the sixth wicket, out of which 179 runs were in the name of Maxwell alone. Cummins remained unbeaten after scoring 12 runs. Maxwell played an unbeaten inning of 201 runs in 128 balls with the help of 10 sixes and 21 fours.
every bet failed
To get Maxwell out, Afghanistan captain Hasmatullah Shahidi played every trick he could but Maxwell failed every trick of his. Maxwell completed his century by taking one run on the second ball of the 33rd over. For this Maxwell faced 76 balls. After scoring the century, he suffered from leg cramps but he persisted and kept scoring runs for his team. Physio had to come to the field twice but Maxwell did not give up and scored fast runs to lead his team to victory.
