New Delhi: The identity of Ladakh is its beauty. Beautiful mountains, snow-capped Himalayas, Ladakh is known for these things. But now this area seems to be coming forward in sports. If the country’s tallest football stadium is built somewhere in this area, it is built in Ladakh only. A football stadium has been built in Ladakh at an altitude of 11,000 feet above sea level. This stadium is included in the 10 highest stadiums in the world. Soon this ground will become the home ground of Ladakh’s first professional football club – 1 Ladakh FC.
If it is called the new destination of Indian football, then probably it will not be a mistake. But the focus of this club is not just on winning on the field but on spreading greenery outside the field. This club aims at becoming the cleanest and greenest football club. This club has not even spread its legs well yet. This club has not even played matches in the whole country. In such a situation, the targets set by this club can be very difficult for them. But one of the founding members of the club has told the English newspaper The Indian Express that they have started taking steps towards their project. An example of this is that the players of the team will wear Danish brand kits which will be eco-friendly. Apart from this, the entire club has set a target that the players of the club will cycle to the training ground built in Leh.
Sathi Gyalson, chairman of the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, said that such an initiative is the need of the hour. He said that glaciers are disappearing in Ladakh and that is why people are shifting to other villages. There have also been changes in the time of snowfall and now there is more rain than snowfall, which is not a good thing for the area. It is difficult to breathe here due to the low oxygen level and the temperature goes up to -29 degrees.

Football is getting a boost in Ladakh
Football has got a lot of boost in Ladakh since last year. Last year, Ladakh got the membership of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), which was the first step in its development. After this Ladakh also played Santosh Trophy. This team showed a great game in their first match and drew 2-2 against Uttarakhand.
Women’s football is also not far behind here. Before the Santosh Trophy, Ladakh, established in 2019, sent its team to the Under-17 Women’s National Championship. Association general secretary Sering Angmo said that football was always played in Ladakh but only as a hobby because there was no infrastructure before. But now the situation has changed. After the formation of the Football Association, 33 football clubs were formed in this area.
