Sunil Gavaskar has advocated playing KL Rahul in the final of the ICC World Test but he has also talked about a change in his role.
KL Rahul is struggling with bad form at the moment.
New Delhi: The Indian cricket team has made it to the finals of the ICC World Test Championship. In this title match, India will face Australia at The Oval. This is the second time in a row that Team India has made it to the final of the Test Championship. Last time they had to face defeat at the hands of New Zealand. But this time Team India would not like to leave any stone unturned. However, there is a dilemma regarding the selection in front of him. KL Rahul is struggling with poor form and that is why he did not play in the last two matches of the recent series against Australia. Former Team India captain Sunil Gavaskar, however, wants Rahul to play in the final of the Test Championship.
Gavaskar has advocated playing Rahul in the final but he has also talked about changing his role. Rishabh Pant, an important part of the Indian Test team, is currently injured. He had become a victim of a car accident on 30 December. That is why Pant is out for a long time. In his place, KS Bharat got a chance in the team but he could not impress as a batsman.

get bharat out
Gavaskar wants the team management not to play Bharat in the final and replace him with Rahul, who can also do wicketkeeping. Rahul has been playing this role in ODIs. He has also done this work in IPL. That’s why Gavaskar wants him to play as a keeper in the final of the Test Championship. Talking to Sports Tak, Gavaskar said, “You can feed KL Rahul as a wicketkeeper. If he bats at number-5 or 6 in The Oval, then our batting will be strong. Last year he batted well in England. He scored a century at Lord’s. When you play the final of the Test Championship, keep Rahul in mind while choosing the playing XI.
Vice-captaincy was snatched from Rahul
Rahul has been struggling with poor form for a long time. He was the vice-captain of the Test team. He also captained the Test series in Bangladesh in the absence of Rohit Sharma. But his bat remained calm. Rahul’s bat did not work in the first and second test matches against Australia. After this, when the team was announced for the next two Test matches, Rahul was stripped of the vice-captaincy and he was also dropped from the playing-11.
