This cricketer of Andhra Pradesh sought money from a businessman by becoming the Chief Minister and hence the Mumbai Police has arrested him. However, this is not the first time that he has been caught in such a case.

Mumbai: Cricketer Nagaraju Budumuru, who was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad team in Ranji Trophy and IPL for Andhra Pradesh, has been arrested by the Mumbai Police. Nagaraju is accused of imitating Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and asked for money from a Mumbai-based company. He became the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and asked the managing director of an electronic shop chain in Mumbai for Rs 12 lakh to sponsor another cricketer Ricky Bhui. Ricky Bhui has also played in IPL.
Nagaraju has done MBA and he represented Andhra Pradesh in Ranji Trophy from 2014 to 2016. However, this is not the first time that he has been arrested in such a case. Earlier in 2021, he had defrauded nine corporate firms of Rs 40 lakh by becoming the personal secretary of a minister KT Rama Rao and that is why he was arrested. From 2018 till now, he has recovered a total of three crores from 60 corporate houses.

Nagaraju has confessed his crime. Nagaraju has told that he did this work to take revenge because the same thing happened to him. Nagaraju told that a leader of a political party in Andhra Pradesh had demanded Rs 15 lakh from him and then his cricket career was ruined. In the recent case, the MD had lodged a complaint on 13 January. He had lodged this complaint when he came to know that Nagaraju had cheated him.
Nagaraju had convinced this businessman that he was Jagan Mohan Reddy. He had also put the Chief Minister’s photo on his mobile phone and then asked him for sponsorship money. The Times of India in its report quoted the businessman as saying, “I gave the money in the name of NCA and the accused also gave the receipt on the fake letterhead of Andhra Pradesh State Cricket Association. He also used the photo of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on WhatsApp and also a fake email in the name of Ricky Bhui.

30 FIRs are registered
The DCP of Mumbai-Cyber told that there are 30 FIRs registered against Nagaraju in a similar case. The Times of India quoted DCP Balsingh Rajput as saying, “There are about 30 FIRs against him in similar crimes.”
