New Delhi: County cricket season is underway in England. Matches are being played continuously. However, a match was played between Hampshire and Yorkshire, which resulted after the pitch was dug up. This big incident happened 47 years ago in the county cricket of England. This happened on 14 June 1976.
Hampshire and Yorkshire teams were face to face in Portsmouth. A pitch digging incident occurred on the third day of the match, after which the match was switched elsewhere. However, the match remained inconclusive.

Pitch cutting has a big impact on the match
Everyone was surprised by the sudden incident in the match. The pitch at Portsmouth was dug up not even a year after the Headingley Test pitch had been demolished. But, whatever the effect of digging the pitch had already happened on the match. He had now been switched elsewhere.

Yorkshire did not score a half century in the first innings
Now it was Yorkshire’s turn. In the first innings from Yorkshire, no batsman scored a half-century. 39 runs was the highest score of any batsman. The result was that the entire Yorkshire team was all out after scoring 228 runs in 82 overs.

Hampshire were set a target of 227 runs, the match ended in a draw.
Hampshire invited Yorkshire to play the second innings. This time Yorkshire made a good show with the bat and declared the innings by scoring 389 runs for 4 wickets in 116 overs and set a target of 227 runs for victory in front of Hampshire. Hampshire scored 49 runs in the second innings losing 1 wicket, and thus the match ended in a draw.
