There is also doubt over Kohli’s availability for the fifth Test starting in Dharamshala from March 6. The selectors are expected to announce the squad for the remaining three Test matches this week. Selection committee chairman Ajit Agarkar or top BCCI officials will talk to him to get a clear picture.
The personal reason behind Virat Kohli’s absence from the Test is said to be his becoming a father for the second time. This was revealed by his close friend and former Royal Challengers Bangalore teammate AB de Villiers on his YouTube channel.
He said, “Yes, their second child is on the way. It’s family time and things are important to them. If you’re not true and true to yourself, you’re missing out on what you’re here for.”
