But now it will be given a new form in which more teams will participate. Bidding will be done to acquire the franchisees and BCCI has fixed its base price.
According to several media reports, the BCCI has decided to fix the base price of the women’s IPL. The board is considering the auction of five franchises. This IPL will start in March-2023. Till now BCCI was organizing Women’s T20 Challenger since 2018. In the first season only one match was played, after that it was done for three teams. Now BCCI is preparing to conduct full flag women’s IPL.
what will be the base price
If reports are to be believed, those who get the franchise will have to bid for it and the base price of the teams will be 400 crores. This is much higher than the base price of the franchise at the time of the men’s IPL, which started in 2007-08. In its report, News18 quoted a source related to the matter as saying, “The benchmark should be something and the BCCI is collecting information from the market according to the demand and interest of the market.”
The men’s IPL started in 2008. The Mumbai franchise was bought by the Reliance Group. Reliance bought this franchise for Rs 446 crore and with this the team became the most expensive team in the domestic league.
Amount will not have to be paid at once
Whoever buys the group franchise will not have to pay the entire amount at once. According to sources, the owner of the franchise will get five years to pay the price. The source said, “The winner of the franchise will have to pay the full ownership cost to the BCCI within five years. In these five years, he can pay the price in equal installments.
BCCI has prepared a proposal for the women’s league. 22 matches will be played in this women’s league. There will be 18 players in each franchise. There will be six foreign players in each franchise. Apart from this, there will be maximum five foreign players in a match. Of these, four can be from full member countries and one from associate nation.
