BCCI invites applications for the post of national selector of Team India
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has invited applications for the post of National Selector (Team India Selection Committee) for Team India. The post of chief selector has been vacant since the resignation of Chetan Sharma as the chairman of the selection committee (BCCI National Selector) in February 2023. BCCI has shared its advertisement on its website. The last date of application is 30 June.
Chetan Sharma was in his second stint as a national selector. But was sacked by the BCCI after a sting operation by the news media. He was found to have disclosed confidential information relating to players including former captain Virat Kohli and the head coach. Former cricketer Shiv Sundar Das replaced Chetan as the selector from North Zone and chairman of the selection panel.
At least 7 test experience is necessary to become a national selector:
- Must have played at least: A) 7 (Seven) Test matches; or B) 30 (thirty) first class matches; or C) 10 (ten) One Day International matches and 20 (twenty) first class matches.
- Should have retired from the game at least 5 years ago.
- Any person who has been a member of any Cricket Committee (as defined in the Memorandum of Association and Rules and Regulations of the BCCI) for a total period of five years shall not be eligible to become a member of the Men’s Selection Committee.
