The schedule of the ODI World Cup to be held in India (World Cup 2023 Schedule) has not been made official yet. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had demanded a change in the venue (CWC 2023 Stadiums) of some of its team’s (Pakistan Cricket Team) matches from the BCCI and the ICC. It has been decided that these demands of PCB cannot be met. The PCB has been informed about this in the meeting held on 20th June.
The Pakistan cricket team, captained by Babar Azam, has to play its matches in Chennai and Bangalore. According to Pakistan media report, Pakistan has to play its match against Afghanistan in Chennai. While the match against Australia is held in Bangalore. From this draft schedule, Pakistan had demanded a change in the venue of these two matches.
ICC and BCCI turned down PCB’s demand
According to the report of Cricbuzz, ICC and World Cup host BCCI had a meeting on Tuesday 20 June. In this meeting, both have conveyed their decision to the PCB, in which there has been talk of not making any change in the venue.
The ICC and the BCCI told the PCB that there was no point in changing the venue in this situation. A change of venue can happen only if there is a security issue at the ground, or if a ground is not suitable for an international match.
Chennai and Bangalore have been considered as safe places for the Pakistan team. Here the team will get the best facilities. Earlier, former PCB chief Najam Sethi had asked to consider Ahmedabad as well, but even then his demand was not considered.
Let us tell you that the last time the venue of a match was changed in 2016. In the 2016 T20 World Cup, the India-Pakistan match was shifted from Dharamshala to Kolkata due to security reasons.
