Left Gautam Gambhir behind in terms of scoring most runs (in ODIs)
Pakistan captain Babar Azam has played a brilliant inning of 151 runs in the very first match of the Asia Cup 2023. Along with this, he has left behind Indian veteran Gautam Gambhir in terms of scoring the most runs in ODI cricket. Actually, Gambhir scored 5238 runs in ODIs. Although Babar has so far scored 5353 runs in ODIs. With this, Babar has broken this record of Gambhir.
Fastest completed 19 centuries in ODI
Babar has also completed 19 centuries in his ODI cricket with a brilliant century innings against Nepal. Apart from this, Babar has also become the first batsman to complete the fastest 19 centuries in the shortest innings in ODIs. He has scored 19 centuries in 102 innings. Earlier, Hashim Amla of South Africa had achieved this feat in 104 innings. After this, Virat Kohli had completed 19 centuries in 124 innings. Whereas David Warner did this feat in 139 matches.
Best score as captain in Asia Cup history

Babar Azam and Iftikhar Ahmed shared a brilliant 214-run partnership against Nepal. However, Captain Babar had to go to the pavilion after being dismissed in the last over of the first innings. But Babar’s 151 and Iftikhar’s brilliant innings of 109 helped them hold the record for the longest partnership for the 5th wicket in Asia Cup history.
