New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was out with an injury during the World Cup 2023 match against Australia (AUS vs NZ) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala on Saturday. In the match, New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Elected to bowl first, Ferguson came in the 7th over and in his first over Australia openers David Warner and Travis Head scored 19 runs. The pacer conceded another 19 runs in the next two overs before he walked off the field with an injured right Achilles.
Updating on Lockie Ferguson’s injury, the Black Caps wrote on Twitter, “Lockie Ferguson is off the field after experiencing pain in his right Achilles while bowling. He will not return to the field and will be further evaluated. Ferguson is the third-highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in this edition with eight wickets in five matches.
In the match against Australia, Lockie Ferguson walked out of the ground after bowling just three overs. It has been told by the New Zealand Cricket Board that a decision will be taken on Lockie’s further play.
