Adorned with star players like PV Sindhu and HH Prannoy, the Indian badminton team has been successful in creating history. India has got bronze medal in Asian Mixed Team Championship. This is India’s first medal in this tournament. The Indian team was close to reaching the finals of this tournament but in the semi-finals it had to face defeat by China 2-3. The first match was of Men’s Singles in which HS Prannoy of India faced Lan Xi Lei of China. Prannoy, however, could not get the team off to a winning start. The Chinese player won this match 21-13, 21-15. (PC-BAI Media Twitter)
The second match was Women’s Singles in which India’s two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu was on the court but she too could not win. He was defeated by Fang Jie Gao 21-09, 16-21, 21-18 in a tough match and put China ahead 2-0. (File Pic)
The next match was of Men’s Doubles in which Dhruv Kapila and Chirag Shetty opened India’s account by winning. India’s pair won the match 21-19, 21-19 over the pair of Ting Jie Hee and How Dong Zhao. (PC-BAI Media)
This was followed by the women’s doubles match in which Trisha Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand defeated the pair of Sheng Shu Liu and Ning Tan 21-18, 13-21, 21-19 to bring India on par and the score. Made it 2-2. The last match was of mixed doubles in which India’s pair of Ishan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto was on the court. In front of this pair was Zhen Bang Jiang and Jin Ya Wei.
