New Delhi: Asian Games are to be played in September-October this year. Cricket will also be seen in these games to be held in China. India’s men’s and women’s teams will participate in these games. The BCCI has decided that it will send its men’s and women’s teams to the Asian Games. Although the board was not ready for this earlier, but now it has agreed. Cricket will be played in T20 format in the Asian Games.
The English newspaper Indian Express has given information about this. In these games, the women’s team will enter with all its might. But India’s B team will field in the men’s category as the main team will be preparing for the ODI World Cup to be played at home at that time. The newspaper told in its report that the BCCI has submitted the names of two teams for these games to be held in Hangzhou.

The BCCI had earlier refused to field a team in these games due to the busy schedule. The board had clearly stated that it would not send any of its team to these games. The men’s team matches in the Asian Games will be played from September 29 to October 8. Meanwhile, ODI World Cup matches will also take place. On the other hand, regarding the women’s team, the BCCI said that this team can go on foreign tours.

Cricket has been a part of the Asian Games twice before. Cricket was included in these games in 2010 and 2014. But India did not participate in it both the times. Cricket was not included in the Asian Games held in Jakarta in 2018.

Took part in Commonwealth Games
Cricket was included in the Commonwealth Games played in Birmingham last year. But only women’s cricket got a place. The team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur won the silver medal in these games. Cricket got a place in the Commonwealth Games in 1998 and India’s men’s team participated in it.
