Ambati Rayudu left Caribbean Premier League due to personal reasons
Former Indian Cricket Team player Ambati Rayudu has decided to withdraw from the Caribbean Premier League (Caribbean Premier League 2023). Ambati has ended his tenure with St Kitts and Nevis Patriots due to personal reasons. Recently he said goodbye to cricket after IPL 2023, after which he went to play CPL 2023. However, he has played only three matches and now he has withdrawn his name from the foreign league.
According to ESPNcricinfo, Ambati Rayudu has decided to withdraw from the Caribbean Premier League due to personal reasons. During this, Rayudu featured in three innings for the Patriots in the current edition, scoring 47 runs at a strike rate of 117.50. However, his scores in three innings were 0, 32 and 15. Rayudu was announced as the marquee player for the Patriots just two weeks ago.
Blessing Mujarbani also withdrew his name along with Rayudu.
Apart from Ambati Rayudu, Zimbabwean fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has also withdrawn his name from the Caribbean Premier League due to personal reasons. Muzarabani also played three matches for the Patriots and took one wicket at an economy of 10.61. In place of Rayudu and Muzarabani, fast bowler Benny Howell and top-order batsman Will Smeed have been given a chance.
Rayudu got a chance in place of Tristan Stubbs
Rayudu was called in as a replacement for South African all-rounder Tristan Stubbs, who was no longer available for CPL 2023. Stubbs is part of South Africa’s squad for the three-match T20I series against Australia. However, Rayudu also became the first Indian player to feature in the inaugural Major League Cricket in America. But the BCCI’s proposal to introduce a one-year cooling-off period for retired Indian players forced Rayudu to opt out of the overseas franchise league.
