On December 7, 2023, Congress leader Revanth Reddy took oath as CM. After this came the turn of the MLAs to take oath. But there was a ruckus there. Eight winning MLAs of BJP refused to take oath. The reason for this was AIMIM leader and Chandrayangutta MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, who was being sworn in for the post of Protem Speaker of Telangana Assembly. People started talking about why Congress gave so much importance to AIMIM, which is called the B team of BJP?
Not long ago, in October, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had linked AIMIM and BRS to BJP and accused them of running a wrong agenda against Congress, but after two months everything changed. As soon as Congress won in Telangana, AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi was given the status of Protem Speaker. However, many political experts are also saying that the post of Protem Speaker is given to a senior MLA and Akbaruddin Owaisi has won from Chandrayangutta assembly constituency 6 times. Therefore he was given this post.
The planning of AIMIM and BRS did not work!
As soon as Telangana came into existence in 2014, KCR’s party TRS (now BRS) came to power. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM openly said that it is with KCR. Both benefited from this in two consecutive assembly elections. There was also speculation in the 2023 assembly elections that AIMIM would field its candidates to harm Congress, which would benefit BRS. But call it the bad luck of BRS that even after AIMIM won all the seven seats, it could not remove Congress from power.
Can AIMIM come with Congress?
AIMIM, which opposed Congress in Telangana for 10 years, may change its tune in future. His habit of going along with the power in the state may perhaps become a compulsion this time. If this happens then the party can forget the past and adopt Congress. This time, if both had fought together, the 7 seats won by AIMIM would have also gone to Congress. Even though AIMIM wants to establish itself as a separate faction by staying away from the INDIA alliance, it will leave no stone unturned to strengthen itself by joining hands with Congress in Telangana.
