New Delhi: Union Minister Anurag Thakur on Friday took a dig at Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Choudhary for not casting his vote in the first phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections held a day earlier, saying it clearly reflects “his opinion on democracy”. Is.
Anurag Thakur said in Varanasi, “Some dynastic people do not cast their vote. His opinion on democracy shows very clearly. Such parties have lost before, will lose again in future.” He was campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here.
Jayant Choudhary’s party, contesting in alliance with the Samajwadi Party (SP), is a voter from Mathura, where polling was held on Thursday. According to the RLD, he could not cast his vote as he was in other districts where the second phase of polling will be held on February 14.
However, Charu Chaudhary, wife of Jayant Choudhary, cast her vote as a voter in Mathura. Meanwhile, the Lok Dal came under criticism from the dominant ruling party and was targeted by leaders like BJP national president JP Nadda.
Not holding back on the matter, Jayant Choudhary said, “The reaction of the BJP shows that it is once again intimidated by it.”
Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases, in which the first phase of polling has been held, while the second round will be held on February 14, February 20, 23, 27, March 3 and March 7. Counting of votes for all 403 assembly constituencies will take place on March 10.
