New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will campaign door-to-door across the state from Tuesday. The campaign will inform the public about the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath-led ruling party government, which is being challenged by the Samajwadi Party and others in the electoral battlefield.
BJP’s UP unit chief Swatantra Dev Singh said, “The BJP will start a door-to-door campaign from Tuesday after making every assembly constituency of the state aware of the government’s achievement through the Jan Vishwas Yatra.”
“Under this campaign, party leaders and workers will reach out to people following the COVID protocol and inform people about the work done by the central and state governments for farmers, workers, women and youth,” he said.
The BJP says that the beneficiaries of over 35 million (3.50 crore) government schemes present in the state will be part of the target audience of the Ghar Ghar Sampark campaign.
The party intends to reach out to every household under all the 92,821 polling stations in the state, which includes 1,74,351 polling stations.
To take its campaign forward, BJP will launch “LED Raths” with big screens to amplify its message after Makar Sankranti on January 14.
Singh said that these chariots would reach each of the 403 assembly constituencies of Uttar Pradesh and would highlight all the social welfare schemes of the government and the improvement in the law and order situation in the state.
“All MPs, MLAs, ministers, public representatives and party officials will be part of this campaign,” the state BJP chief said.
As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India, the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting from February 10. The BJP is aiming to return to power with an even stronger mandate and has deployed its senior leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, to campaign.
Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are the main challengers to the BJP’s claim. Yadav has claimed that his party will win 400 seats out of 403.
In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP had swept the Samajwadi Party and came to power winning 312 seats.
