Tripura, ruled by the Bharatiya Janata Party, witnessed several incidents of violence following the recently concluded assembly elections, which is being probed by a seven-member parliamentary team. Guwahati: A parliamentary team visiting BJP-ruled Tripura to inquire into the post-poll political violence and talk to the affected people was attacked on Friday. The team has come on a two-day tour.
According to NDTV, Tripura CPI(M) state secretary and former minister Jitendra Chowdhary said that the parliamentary party has to postpone its remaining outdoor programs scheduled for today (Saturday) due to the “heinous attack” at Nehalchandra Nagar market in Bisalgarh yesterday (Friday) evening. have been forced to do.
Congress and CPI(M) sources said when members of the parliamentary party went to violence-hit Vishalgarh in Sepahijala district, some people backed by the ruling BJP attacked them and damaged three vehicles.
The CPI(M) said in a statement, “The MP and the Congress and CPI(M) leaders accompanying him immediately left the scene and escaped major attack.”
BJP workers also obstructed the visit of the parliamentary party to Mohanpur in West Tripura.
A police statement said the MPs, along with local MLAs and leaders, faced sloganeering during an unscheduled visit to Nehalchandra Nagar in Vishalgarh.
The police statement said, ‘The accompanying police escort team reacted quickly and evacuated the delegation safely. Senior officers were on the spot. There is no report of injury to any person. Damage has been reported to 2-3 vehicles. A suspect has been taken into custody. Raids are on to identify and arrest other miscreants.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has condemned the incident.

AA Rahim, a Rajya Sabha member in the parliamentary party, said in a tweet on Friday, ‘The violence being perpetrated by the BJP in Tripura is no less than terrorism. The systematic destruction of opposition offices and the targeting of party members is a gross assault on democracy. It is necessary that the democratic forces across the country stand against this fascist regime.

Congress and CPI(M) leaders said the parliamentary party, comprising four Lok Sabha MPs and three Rajya Sabha MPs, has been divided into three groups. He is visiting violence-affected villages and urban areas in three districts – West Tripura, Sipahijala and Gomti.
Local MLAs from the two parties PR Natarajan, Ranjitha Ranjan, AA Rahim, Abdul Khaliq, Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, Vinay Vishwam and Elaram Karim accompanied the parliamentary party.
