Satyapal Rajput, Raipur: Voting for 117 posts in Chhattisgarh’s three-tier panchayat by-elections was completed peacefully. No re-polling took place in any of the polling stations. The counting of votes in all the polling stations was also completed on Tuesday itself. Polling parties have safely returned from all 244 polling stations.
Polling was held for 117 posts of Panch, Sarpanch and Janpad Panchayat member in 21 districts of the state under Panchayat by-elections. Of these, elections were held on 3 posts for district member, 62 for sarpanch and 52 for panch. In the polling held for these posts today, an average of about 70 percent voters exercised their franchise till 3 pm. Women, differently-abled voters actively participated in the voting.
Highest 82.49 percent polling in Gariaband
According to the information received from the State Election Commission, an average of 70.75 percent male voters and an average 67.99 percent female voters exercised their franchise in the Panchayat by-elections held today. Highest 82.49 percent voters have cast their vote in Gariaband district. The polling time was fixed from 7 am to 3 pm. The total number of voters for the three-tier Panchayat by-election in the state was 106543. These include 53393 male and 53147 female voters and three third gender voters.
1500 polling staff were engaged for the election
About 240 officers of Returning Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, Sector Officer and Sector Magistrate were appointed for the three-tier by-election. And 244 polling stations were set up. Around 1500 polling personnel were appointed to conduct the polls. These included 5 polling personnel at each polling station, which included a presiding officer, three polling officers and a security guard.

Under the Panchayat by-election, 70 percent voting was done till 3 pm in various districts. Of these 74.99 percent in Bilaspur, 55.54 percent in Mungeli, 57.57 percent in Janjgir-Champa, 72.08 percent in Raigarh, 76.3 percent in Balrampur, 81.51 percent in Surajpur, 61.50 percent in Jashpur, 70.33 percent in Korea, 64.88 percent in Raipur, Mahasamund 67.41. percent, Dhamtari 82.43 percent.
Gariaband 82.49 percent, Balodabazar-Bhatapara 65.15 percent, Durg 69.61 percent, Balod 76.07 percent, Bemetara 68.98 percent, Rajnandgaon 79.71 percent, Kabirdham 69.53 percent, Bastar 72.39 percent, Kondagaon 43.63 percent and Bijapur district 63.61 percent. exercised the right to vote.
