After the release of caste census data in Bihar, political activities have intensified in Uttar Pradesh too. Along with Samajwadi Party, BSP supremo Mayawati has also demanded to conduct caste census in UP. The special thing is that the leaders of NDA’s ally Subhaspa, Nishad Party and Apna Dal (Sone Lal Patel faction) have also demanded from the government to conduct caste census. Before the Lok Sabha elections, caste census is becoming a big issue in the country. After the release of figures by Nitish government in Bihar, this issue has now reached Uttar Pradesh. Along with the opposition parties, the government’s allies have also reiterated this demand. On the other hand, Congress and Rashtriya Lok Dal are also continuously demanding to conduct caste census.
BSP chief made social media post
After the release of caste census data in Bihar, BSP chief Mayawati has written in a post on social media platform Mayawati has demanded the UP government as well as the Central government to conduct caste census and give their rights to the Dalits and backward classes. Mayawati has written in her post that anti-Mandal and communal parties are scared of the caste census.
SP-Congress and RLD created the atmosphere
Samajwadi Party has been creating an atmosphere in favor of caste census since the beginning. Akhilesh Yadav has tried on several occasions to corner the Yogi government on the issue of caste census. Akhilesh is also excited to see the number of Yadav community in Bihar. Apart from this, Congress leader and former state president Ajay Kumar Lallu has also demanded to conduct caste census to know the exact number of backward people. State President of Congress Ajay Rai, while presenting the party’s side, has said that Congress has always been sensitive towards backward people and Dalits. The state government should conduct caste census as soon as possible. At the same time, the National President of RLD has also demanded to conduct caste census to know the true picture of the backward people.
BJP troubled by the challenge of its own people
Amidst the continuous demand for caste census from opposition parties, BJP’s biggest problem has become its own. On Tuesday, Union Minister Anupriya Patel, leader of the government’s ally Apna Dal in Rae Bareli, demanded the UP government to conduct a caste census. He said that his party has been continuously demanding caste census. Now there should be no delay on this.
Similarly, President of NDA constituent Nishad Party, Sanjay Nishad has demanded to conduct caste census on the basis of 1961 census. However Sanjay Nishad has put it in a different way. He says that if the government conducts caste census, it can silence the opposition and will also increase the confidence of backward people and Dalits. Apart from this, OP Rajbhar, who resigned from the post of minister on the issue of reservation and came back for the second time, is also trying to raise this issue. BJP state president Bhupendra Chaudhary has targeted the Nitish government on the demand for continuous caste census in UP. He said that under what rules has the census been conducted in Bihar? However, he did not say anything about the demand for caste census being made by his colleagues.
