The northernmost city of Rajasthan, Sriganganagar, which is situated near the border of Punjab and is also adjacent to the international border of Pakistan, is also in political turmoil. After the election bugle has been sounded in Rajasthan, election activity has intensified in Ganganagar. There are 6 assembly seats under Sriganganagar district, out of which BJP won 3 seats and Congress won 2. One seat is with an independent candidate. Congress had won the Sadulshahr seat in the 2018 elections.

If we look at the results of Sadulshahr assembly seat in the 2018 elections, the contest here was triangular in which Congress had won. Congress’s Jagdish Chander got 73,153 votes in the election, BJP’s Gurveer Singh Brar got 63,477 votes while independent candidate Om Bishwoi got 36,767 votes.
After a tough contest, Jagdish Chander won the election by a margin of 9,676 (5.3%) votes. In the then elections, there were a total of 2,12,577 voters in Sadulshahr assembly seat, in which the number of male voters was 1,12,231 and the number of female voters was 1,00,345. Of these, a total of 1,83,115 (86.9%) voters cast their votes. In the election, 1,641 (0.8%) votes were cast in favor of NOTA.
How was the political history?
Talking about the political history of Sadulshahr assembly seat, Congress has won here twice in the last 3 elections. Once BJP had won. In 2008, Santosh Kumar of Congress defeated Gurjant Singh of BJP in a very tough contest. Santosh Kumar won by a margin of 2,875 votes. Whereas in the 2013 elections, BJP’s Gurjant Singh made a comeback and defeated Congress’s Jagdish Chander by a margin of 4,808 votes.

In the 2018 elections, Congress’s Jagdish had won by 9,676 votes.
