Before Bharat Jodo Yatra, Congress was scattered in Telangana, most of the leaders had left the party and joined BRS or BJP. Rahul told close ones that the then party president Sonia Gandhi had to face many difficulties to create Telangana, the party went to zero in a state like Andhra Pradesh and yet could not come to power here for 10 years. Congress became aggressive and moved in the direction of calling BRS, BJP and Owaisi all on the same plate. It was only on Rahul’s insistence that the party’s working committee meeting was organized in Telangana instead of any ruling state. Gradually the old leaders started returning to the party.
Sonia Gandhi’s rally was held only in Telangana
Not only this, on Rahul’s request, Sonia’s rally was held only in Telangana among the five states, where Sonia reminded about the creation of Telangana and announced future election guarantees. Manikrao Thackeray has said that Sonia Gandhi created Telangana state to help the poor and backward, but KCR looted it.
Most emphasis on Telangana among the five states
Actually, call it a desire to give a political gift to Rahul’s mother or an attempt to stop BJP politically in South India after snatching Karnataka from BJP. So far he has given maximum time and emphasis on Telangana among the five states.
Rahul himself is campaigning in other states, but internally, Mallikarjun Kharge and Priyanka Gandhi are handling the day-to-day strategy there. Rahul and Congress know that to some extent they can counter the strength of BJP in North India by stopping BJP from expanding in South India.
