Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has made a scathing attack on the ruling BJP in the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ organized in protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the membership of the Lok Sabha. He said that you call the martyr’s son a traitor and Mir Jafar. Our family has shed blood for this country… this tricolor… this land. The democracy of this country has been irrigated by the blood of my family.

New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra launched a scathing attack on the ruling BJP on Sunday as she joined the Congress party’s ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ to protest against the disqualification of her brother and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha.
In protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi, party leaders and workers held a one-day satyagraha in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat on Sunday.
Along with Priyanka, party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and senior leaders KC Venugopal, P. Chidambaram, Salman Khurshid along with party’s top functionaries joined the ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’.
During this, Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘The son of a martyr Prime Minister, who walked thousands of kilometers for national unity, can never insult the country. My family has watered the democracy of this country with its blood.
He said, ‘My father’s body was wrapped in the tricolor flag and my brother was walking behind him, you insult that martyr in a full parliament. Insults his mother. You call the son of that martyr a traitor and Mir Jafar, you point fingers at the Nehru family.
He said, ‘You insult the Kashmiri tradition where a son uses his father’s surname. My family has shed blood for this country… this tricolor… this land. There is their blood in this land, the democracy of this country has been irrigated by the blood of my family.
Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘Your ministers insult my mother in Parliament. One of your chief ministers says, Rahul Gandhi doesn’t even know who his father is? Your prime minister stands up in a full parliament and says why your family doesn’t use the name Nehru. Insult the whole family.
He further said, ‘You insult the Kashmiri tradition, under which a son wears a turban when his father dies and carries on the family tradition. But there is no case against you. You don’t get any punishment for two years. You don’t get jail sentence. No one gets you out of Parliament! No one forbids you that you cannot contest elections for years. Why?’
He said, ‘Those who think that they will intimidate us by humiliating us, threatening us, using agencies to intimidate us, they think wrong. We will fight more strongly. We are ready to do anything for the democracy of this country. The foundation of this democracy has been laid by the great men of the Congress party. The Congress party had fought for the freedom of this country and we are still fighting for the freedom of this country.
He said, ‘My brother went to PM Modi and hugged him in Parliament and said that he has no hatred towards you. We may have different ideologies, but we do not have an ideology of hatred.
Priyanka Gandhi asked, ‘You (BJP) talk about familyism, I want to ask who was Lord Ram. Were they familists, were the Pandavas familists only because they fought for their family values? And should we feel ashamed because our family members fought for the people of the country?’
Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘The Prime Minister of this country is a coward. Case me, send me to jail, but the truth is that the Prime Minister of this country is a coward. Hiding behind his power, he is arrogant. There is an old tradition of this country, there is an old tradition of Hindu religion, the public answers the arrogant king.
Attacking the government on the Adani issue, he said, ‘Can’t you see that all your wealth is being looted? One person is being given, a handful of industrialists are being given. Whose wealth is this? Is this the property of Rahul Gandhi? This is your property. PSUs (government owned companies) made for you are being sold to them, they are being given one after the other. Your employment comes from these public sector undertakings, small businesses and small traders. No big Adani can give you a job, they will only take away your job.
The property of the country is being looted, your property is being given to a man.
This is not Rahul Gandhi’s property but your property.
Whose PSUs are these? These are yours. This is where your employment comes from.

He further said, ‘Open your eyes, why does this whole government, minister-MP, try to save a man? What is there in this Adani that you are giving him the wealth of the whole country? Thousands of crores are in their shell companies, but you can’t check! Who is this Adani? As soon as his name comes, you all get scared!

He said, ‘Rahul Gandhi has done his Masters from two top institutes of the world – Harvard and Cambridge – and you have made him Pappu. Then you came to know that this ‘Pappu’ has gone on a journey and came to know that he is not Pappu… Lakhs of people are walking with him. He is honest, he understands things, he is going to people, listening to their problems and people are walking with him… they are scared. They got nervous that they did not have the answer to the question raised by Rahul Gandhi in Parliament.
Priyanka Gandhi said, ‘This is not only about Rahul Gandhi. This is the matter of the country. When we say that democracy has to be saved, what do we want to save? What is democracy? Openly demand answers, raise questions. This is democracy! You can ask anyone why there is so much inflation? Why is there unemployment? But this right is being taken away from you. You are made to wander here and there.

It may be known that on March 23, a court in Surat in Gujarat sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years in jail in a 2019 criminal defamation case filed against him for his alleged ‘Modi surname’ remark.
A case was registered against Rahul on April 13, 2019, by BJP MLA and former Gujarat minister Purnesh Modi. He had complained about the remarks made by Rahul at a rally in Kolar, Karnataka during the Lok Sabha elections.
Rahul Gandhi had reportedly said during the rally, ‘All thieves, be it Nirav Modi, Lalit Modi or Narendra Modi, why they have Modi in their names.’
On March 24, a day after his conviction, Rahul Gandhi was disqualified from the Lok Sabha. In a notification issued by the Lok Sabha Secretariat, it was said that Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi has been disqualified from March 23, 2023.
