    Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot

BJP has made tailor Kanhaiya Lal murder case a big issue in Rajasthan assembly elections. Now Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has made a big claim on this matter. He said that Kanhaiya Lala’s killers have links with BJP. He said that BJP wanted to create communal tension before the elections. The Chief Minister was in Jodhpur on Sunday, where he said that if the Special Operation Group had investigated the case instead of the National Investigation Agency, then some logical results would have emerged from the investigation.

Kanhaiya Lal worked as a tailor and had a shop in a market in Udaipur. He had allegedly supported the controversial statements of BJP leader Nupur Sharma. Allegedly, for this reason, two people brutally murdered him. Then claims were made on social media that those killers had connections with BJP. Congress spokesperson Pawan Kheda had made the claim on the basis of a photograph, in which alleged BJP leaders Irshad Chainwala, Mohammad Tahir and Gulab Chand Kataria, who was a minister in the Rajasthan government, were seen.

Ashok Gehlot raised questions on NIA investigation

A case was registered in the murder case at Dhanmondi Police Station, but later on June 29, 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) again registered the case and took over the investigation. Ashok Gehlot also commented on the involvement of NIA in the case. Regarding the actions of the NIA, he said that had the state police pursued the case, the culprits would have already been brought to justice.

The accused had posted the video after the murder

The brutal murder took place in Maldas area of Udaipur and soon after the crime, both the accused posted a video on social media claiming to be beheaded. Within hours of the incident, the police arrested two accused, identified as Riyaz Akhtari and Ghaus Mohammad.
