Mandawa Assembly Seat
The Bharatiya Janata Party, including the ruling Congress, is also making efforts to return to power in Rajasthan. In Rajasthan, they are busy in wooing their voters before the voting to be held on 25th November next month. There is a lot of stir in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan also. There are 7 assembly seats under the district, out of which 5 are held by Congress and 2 seats are with BJP. BJP had won the Mandawa seat but he resigned to contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2019. In the by-election held here, this seat went to Congress.
How many voters, how much population
In the 2018 elections, BJP’s Narendra Kumar had secured 80,599 votes from Mandawa Assembly seat while Congress candidate Rita Choudhary had secured 78,253 votes. There was a very close contest between these two in which the BJP candidate won by a margin of 2,346 votes.
In the then elections, the total number of voters in Mandawa assembly seat was 2,18,035, in which the number of male voters was 1,12,528 and the number of female voters was 1,05,507. Of these, a total of 1,64,536 (75.9%) voters cast their votes. Only 908 (0.4) votes were cast in favor of NOTA.
How was the political history?
Talking about the political history of Mandawa assembly seat, Congress has dominated the elections held here since 1990. Janata Dal won in 1990. After this, Ram Narayan Chaudhary scored a hat-trick with consecutive victories in the elections of 1993, 1998 and 2003 on Congress ticket.

After this, Rita Chaudhary entered the 2008 elections and contested the elections on Congress ticket and was elected MLA by defeating Narendra Kumar. However, Narendra Kumar avenged his previous defeat in the 2013 elections and defeated Rita Chaudhary of Congress. The result was the same in 2018 and Narendra Kumar became MLA for the second consecutive time. But later Narendra Kumar resigned from the post. Due to which by-election was held here again in 2019 in which Congress’s Rita Choudhary won.

Both Congress and BJP have announced the names of their respective candidates for this seat. Congress has given ticket to Rita Chaudhary. Whereas BJP has again fielded MP and former MLA Narendra Kumar. Narendra Kumar is going to contest the legislative elections from Mandawa for the fifth time. Narendra contested elections thrice as an independent and won once, while he won the elections twice on BJP ticket. However, resentment is being seen within the party due to the ticket being given to Narendra Kumar. After the rebellion in the party, the contest on this seat has now become exciting.
