Congress Party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Tuesday that in the invitation letters sent by Rashtrapati Bhavan for the dinner to be held on September 9 for the G20 Summit, ‘President of India’ should be changed and the word India should be removed from it. ‘President of India’ has been removed and used.
On Jairam Ramesh’s tweet on ‘Bharat’, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said, why is there a problem in speaking and writing ‘Bharat’. Notably, earlier this month, Mohan Bhagwat had said that people should use the name “Bharat” instead of India and urged people to inculcate this habit.
Citing some media reports which claimed that the central government is “planning” to remove the word India from the Constitution, Sanjay Singh questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mohan Bhagwat “hate” Bhim Rao Ambedkar Why is it, who was responsible for drafting the constitution.
Sanjay Singh said in his post on ‘X’, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar wrote in the constitution – “India that is Bharat”. But Modi and RSS who hate Babasaheb want to change the constitution. Why do Bhagwat and Modi hate Baba Saheb so much?”
Singh also shared the provisions mentioned in Article 1 of the Constitution.

The name India has been around since ancient times
During his address in Guwahati, the RSS chief said that the name Bharat has been going on since ancient times and it should be carried forward.
In a program organized by Sakal Jain Samaj, Bhagwat said, “The name of our country has been Bharat for centuries. Whatever be the language, the name is the same.

Amid the controversy over using ‘Bharat’ instead of ‘India’, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that he is happy and proud that the country’s civilization is boldly moving towards Amrit Kaal.
Assam Chief Minister X said on the social media platform X, “Republic of India – Happy and proud that our civilization is moving forward boldly towards the immortal age.”
‘India, that is Bharat’
On this claim of Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, PM Modi had given names like ‘Make in India’, ‘Skill India’, ‘Khelo India’…. They (BJP) are afraid of the word ‘India’, Article 1 of the Constitution says ‘India, that is Bharat’…how can this name (India) be removed.
The BJP’s recent move to change the reference from ‘President of India’ to ‘President of India’ on the official G20 summit invitations has raised eyebrows and sparked a public debate. The BJP has been attacking the new opposition group INDIA (Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance) by repeatedly declaring that the name ‘INDIA’ is a relic of the colonial past.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal also moved the resolution during the recently concluded monsoon session of the Upper House, saying the name ‘India’ is a symbol of “colonial slavery” and “it should be removed from the Constitution”.
