New Delhi: Political turmoil is in full swing regarding the assembly elections to be held in five states including Goa. Angered by not getting tickets, the rebels have increased the problems of almost all the parties. Something similar is happening in Goa as well. Here the son of former CM Manohar Parrikar’s son Utpal Parrikar has increased the problems of BJP.
Utpal Parrikar is adamant on contesting the assembly elections from Panaji seat. Whereas the party has offered him to contest from any other seat except Panaji seat. But Utpal Parrikar says that his father Late Manohar Parrikar continued to represent Panaji for 25 years. That’s why I will also contest from this seat.
According to the information, BJP has asked Utpal Parrikar to give up the decision of contesting from Panaji assembly seat, then he can be given a better chance. The party has appealed to Utpal Parrikar to give up his claim of contesting from the Panaji seat, then he can be given another chance. The options the party has put before Utpal Parrikar include contesting from another seat or being given a post in the national executive. He has said to think about these offers. However, Utpal Parrikar has not reacted on this yet.
It has been decided to give ticket to the sitting MLA Atanasio Monserrat from Panaji seat. Angered by this, Utpal Parrikar himself decided to enter the fray. He has even started campaigning with his supporters.
In fact, the effect of Atanasio Montserrat is also considered in the surrounding 5-6 seats. His wife Jennifer is an MLA from Talegaon. His son is the mayor of Panaji. In such a situation, if Utpal gets a ticket from Panaji instead of Montserrat, then trouble may increase for the BJP. Also, even if Utpal contests as an independent, the party may face trouble.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena has also jumped into this whole controversy. Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that if BJP does not give ticket to Utpal Parrikar from Panaji seat, then the entire opposition should support him. No candidate should be fielded against him. Sanjay Raut further said that Utpal has to decide on contesting the elections, but if he does not get the ticket then all non-BJP parties should support him. Sanjay Raut said that if the gathering supports the non-BJP party Utpal, then it will be a true tribute to Manohar Parrikar.
