All India Trinamool Congress leader Babul Supriyo on Sunday alleged that he was attacked by goons while campaigning for the assembly elections in Goa. The TMC leader wrote on Twitter that he was attacked with a sharp knife. He tweeted, “Attacked in Goa by a goon of a local party with a sharp knife, who is contesting elections here with the blessings of both the national parties Congress and BJP having malicious anti-people intent. Me and my PSO thwarted the attack and defended ourselves.
In tweets, Supriyo said that the police also reached at the time of the incident but no case was made out. He also said that it is his right to ask people to vote for the party. He said, ‘I alone was enough to neutralize that attack, although police arrived, we did not register an FIR (it would be in vain) and the miscreant fled. Our party @AITCofficial is not here to intimidate or threaten. We have the right to ask people to vote for us.
Let us tell you that the Goa Assembly Elections (2022) will be held in a single phase on February 14. At the same time, the counting of votes will take place on March 10. The coastal state has 40 seats. The Congress had won the maximum number of seats in Goa last time, but could not form the government. The BJP had captured power in alliance with smaller parties.
