New Delhi: A criminal case has been registered against Congress Rajya Sabha member Digvijay Singh in Indore for spreading disharmony by sharing a controversial poster on social media regarding MS Golwalkar, former chief of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. A police officer gave this information on Sunday.
According to PTI, following a complaint filed by local lawyer and RSS worker Rajesh Joshi, Singh was booked under Indian Penal Code section 153-A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence ) the FIR was registered on Saturday night. A case has been registered under sections 469 (forgery with intent to harm reputation), 500 (defamation) and 505 (statements inciting public mischief), said the officer of Tukoganj police station.
In his complaint, Joshi alleged that Singh had posted a controversial poster on Facebook with the name and picture of ‘Guruji’ (as Golwalkar was popularly called) to incite people by creating conflict between Dalits, backward classes, Muslims and Hindus. had shared.
According to the FIR registered by the police in Madhya Pradesh, the complaint claimed that Singh’s Facebook post on Golwalkar allegedly hurt the religious beliefs of Sangh workers and the entire Hindu community.
Singh on Saturday shared an image of a page which contained several controversial comments attributed to the former RSS chief, known as Guruji among his fans.

Golwalkar was quoted as saying that he would prefer to remain under British rule rather than grant equal rights to Dalits, Backwards and Muslims. Some other controversial comments were also his contribution.
Following the post, senior RSS functionary and head of its publicity department Sunil Ambekar accused the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister of posting a “photoshopped” image.
He said, this is baseless and is going to create social disharmony. He said that ‘Guruji’ never made such remarks.
He said that his life was spent in removing social discrimination. Golwalkar was the longest serving RSS chief and was at the helm of the organization from 1940-73.
