Aam Aadmi Party fiercely targeted BJP on the issue of confirmation of sanitation workers in Delhi MCD. Party MLA Durgesh Pathak alleged that BJP has come out against confirming the sanitation workers. She is also preparing to go to court to ensure that the sanitation workers are not punished.
MLA Durgesh Pathak said that after Aam Aadmi Party confirmed 5 thousand employees and made DBC MTS, BJP is continuously abusing the sanitation workers. He alleged that BJP is saying that we will go to court against it and get it rejected.
Threat to CM Arvind Kejriwal and Mayor
Not only this, the MLA alleged that because of strengthening the sanitation workers, CM Arvind Kejriwal and the Mayor are also being threatened that they will be put in jail. BJP has confirmed 1090 sanitation workers in five years and AAP has confirmed 6494 employees in just 8 months. The AAP MLA said that I challenge the state president of BJP to have an open debate on your work of 15 years and our work of eight months.
BJP is insulting the employees
Aam Aadmi Party in-charge of Delhi Municipal Corporation and MLA Durgesh Pathak held a press conference on Sunday at the party headquarters on Rouse Avenue. During this, he said that ever since the proposal to confirm 5 thousand employees and make more than 3 thousand DBC workers MTS was passed in the MCD House, BJP has been continuously insulting the sanitation workers. BJP is saying that we will go to court against it and get it rejected. Efforts are also being made to file a PIL against the confirmation of employees and converting DBC into MTS.
He said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is making dirty comments against the Delhi Mayor. They are even being threatened with putting them in jail. These threats are being given because we have confirmed 5 thousand sanitation workers in Delhi. The poorest section of Delhi had been going to court for the last several years and cleaning the roads early in the morning.
BJP exploited sanitation workers
The MLA said that for the first time MCD stood in favor of those employees. We said that we will ensure sanitation workers because it is our responsibility. Earlier this was the responsibility of BJP for 15 years but they did not ensure sanitation workers. BJP people kept delaying this matter and exploited it. He said that the sanitation workers say that they were asked for bribe and that they would definitely give the money. During the time of BJP, brokers used to roam all over Delhi that it would take so much money to make sure. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ended all this brokerage and confirmed 5 thousand employees at once.
Durgesh Pathak said that as soon as the Aam Aadmi Party prepared to bring the agenda of confirming the employees in the House, the first leader of the opposition wrote a letter saying that this House is wrong. After this he said that how is the agenda of confirming 5 thousand employees being brought? Every effort was made to remove this agenda. But CM Arvind Kejriwal stood by his sanitation workers like a rock.
benefit to sanitation workers
He said that BJP people do not want the sanitation workers to get benefit in salary. Because after getting confirmed, the salary increases, seniority starts and pension is received. This work should have been done in 2004 but it was done in 2023 after the formation of the Aam Aadmi Party government. Bharatiya Janata Party remained in power for 15 years. In such a situation, it is his responsibility to explain why he did not do it. The MLA said that the biggest advantage of being confirmed is that if unfortunately an employee dies, then some person in the family gets the job.
Why is BJP opposing this?
MLA Durgesh Pathak said that CM Arvind Kejriwal has done this very good work, then why is BJP opposing it? Why is she talking about going to court and complaining? Is BJP not with the sanitation workers? He said that during the BJP rule, sanitation workers did not get salaries for the first six months. Unless the sanitation workers staged a dharna at Jantar Mantar, BJP office and offices, they were not paid salaries.
Who knows how many Diwalis passed before he was not paid his salary. In such a situation, they had to celebrate Diwali by taking loans. Many sanitation workers abandoned their children’s education due to non-payment of salaries. After the formation of AAP government, what BJP could not do in 15 years, we did it in 5 months. Those employees were paid salaries on time.
BJP against sanitation workers
He said that these figures clearly show how BJP is against the sanitation workers. In 2017, BJP confirmed only 110 employees in East MCD. Whereas no one was confirmed in North and South MCD. After this, 190 employees were confirmed in 2018, 294 in 2019, 198 in 2020, and 408 in 2021. Whereas the Aam Aadmi Party government has confirmed 6494 employees in just 8 months.
Mountains of garbage are decreasing rapidly
He said that Delhi is now clearly visible. The mountains of garbage are decreasing very fast. Apart from this, as soon as a complaint is lodged on the MCD 311 app, it gets resolved immediately. This work has been done by CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party. But BJP is continuously opposing it. It is painful to see that when a government is doing very good work then you should play the role of a better opposition.
But BJP will make aldermen its own, will end the standing committee and will not allow the house to function. Apart from this, BJP people abuse and fight inside the House. It doesn’t matter to them how Delhi’s sanitation workers and DBC employees and others are benefiting.
Challenge to BJP state president

The people of Delhi have the right to know how you ruined the MCD. After two and a half years of BJP rule in MCD, employees stopped getting salaries. We will challenge them and discuss why Delhi has become dirty? Why the mountains of garbage were not disposed of and why the C&D plant was not set up? During this period, there was BJP government at the Center and you had the entire MCD. If the state president of BJP has the guts then he should come out in the open and discuss.
