New Delhi: Covid-19 In view of the third wave of the epidemic and the ever-increasing infection of Corona, the Election Commission has extended the ban on any kind of road-shows and rallies in the electoral states till January 22. Earlier these restrictions were in force till January 15.
In addition, the Election Commission Political parties have been allowed to hold indoor meetings with a maximum of 300 persons or 50% of the hall capacity.
Let us inform that earlier, while announcing the election dates, the Election Commission had said some important things-
– It will be mandatory for the candidates to make their criminal record public. Also, it is mandatory for political parties to upload on their websites detailed information about persons with pending criminal cases selected as election candidates and explain why that candidate was selected.
– The Election Commission will take care of these things mainly-
1- COVID safe election
2- hassle free for voters
3- Maximum voter participation
Postal ballot for senior citizens above 80, persons with disabilities and COVID patients. Senior citizens above 80 years of age, persons with disabilities and COVID-19 patients can vote by postal ballot.
– Significant changes have been made in the enrollment process, under which candidates will be able to enroll through the Commission’s Suvidha App.
Webcasting will be arranged at important booths.
– Number of voters per booth reduced from 1500 to 1has been reduced to 250, The total number of polling stations has gone up to more than 16 per cent.
The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will come into force immediately after the announcement of the schedule. The Election Commission has made elaborate arrangements to ensure effective implementation of the MCC guidelines. Any violation of these guidelines will be dealt with strictly. Our c-Vigil application should be used by voters to report any incidents of violation of model code of conduct, distribution of funds and freebies. Election commission officials will reach the crime scene within 100 minutes of the complaint.
– Voting will be held with COVID safety norms, as the number of COVID cases increase due to Omicron variant, the ECI held meetings with the Union Health Secretary and Home Secretary, experts and health secretaries of the states. Keeping these views and the ground situation in mind, the Election Commission decided to announce the election with security norms.
18.34 crore voters including service voters will participate in this election. A total of 18.34 crore voters including service voters will participate in this election, out of which 8.55 crore are women voters.
– 24.9 lakh voters who voted for the first time in the elections of 5 states, 24.9 lakh voters registered for the first time in 5 states including Uttar Pradesh.
At least one polling station exclusively for women shall be mandatory in every assembly constituency.
