Panaji. Elections are going to be held in 5 states in the next month in the country. Among these, Goa is also a state. All state elections are expected to be successful in a better way. At the same time, this time in Goa, there is going to be a different view of the election streets. On one hand, the Election Commission does not want to leave any gap in the midst of the corona virus and the state officials are also ready to conduct elections with some new thinking. This is going to happen in Goa, where preparations are on to conduct elections in an eco-friendly manner.
Goa, the state with 40 assembly seats, is going to conduct elections in an eco-friendly manner without using any plastic and natural materials. From bamboo, baskets to coconut shells, Goa will have everything local and eco-friendly this election season.
Will cast vote at bamboo booth
On the day of polling, voters will cast their votes at bamboo booths decorated with coconut leaves making good arrangements for taking selfies as well. Goa Chief Electoral Officer Kunal, while talking to a private channel, said that this election will be a model election as only natural products will be used in it.
He says that the natural features make Goa a beautiful place. From bamboo to coconut, many things are available locally. The state has a deep connection with nature and we at the state commission wanted to use the locally sourced material to promote the culture of Goa and we thought what better opportunity than a state election? He said that Goa would also remain clean and green with the use of bamboo, coconut, shells and the beauty of the place would also increase.
It was told that there are 1,722 polling stations in Goa and all of them will be decorated with natural products. It will promote local work, reduce carbon footprint and make Goa elections different from other states.
Is there anything special for sanitizer and mask?
Apart from this, coconut husks and bamboo trays will be used to keep sanitizers and masks. We will keep bamboo canes in the polling stations to throw away the used gloves and masks. He said that this time our emphasis is on those items which we will get locally – coconut, leaves, bamboo, conch shell etc. All the local artisans have been contacted by the BLOs (booth level officials) to ensure that the product is ready on time. He said that when the voters of Goa step into the booth, they will feel surrounded by all the things that make Goa special.
