New Delhi: 42 members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters have tested positive for COVID-19. The members of the BJP headquarters in New Delhi who have tested positive for COVID-19 include security officers and party staff members.
This news has come at a time when Home Minister Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other senior BJP leaders are holding marathon meetings at the BJP headquarters for the assembly elections in UP and other states.
On Monday, a mass COVID-19 testing drive was conducted at the BJP headquarters, following which it was revealed that 42 employees were COVID-19 positive. It is learned that contact tracing has been started and people who came in contact with the employees are being tracked.
Rajnath Singh, Gadkari already corona positive
Senior BJP leaders including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, BJP chief JP Nadda and others have already tested COVID positive and are in home quarantine. Gadkari said, “I have tested positive for COVID-19 today with mild symptoms. Following all the necessary protocols, I have isolated myself and I am in home quarantine. I request all of them Those who have come in contact with me and isolate themselves.”
The sudden increase in the cases of COVID-19 at the BJP headquarters may also affect the party’s strategy meetings before the elections in five states. Last week, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for assembly elections in five states. Elections will be held in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Goa and Punjab from February 10 to March 7. The results will be declared on March 10.
