Gujarat The Surat police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the wife and brother-in-law of the youth who committed suicide two months ago in June. Investigation has revealed that the young man has taken this step because of his wife and brother. Her in-laws forced her to eat beef. Victim Rohit Pratap Singh had uploaded a suicide note on Facebook before hanging. The Facebook post surfaced two months after his suicide. Police has started investigating the matter. The deceased has said in the suicide note that when he refused to eat beef, he was also threatened.
In the suicide note, Rohit Pratap Singh wrote, ‘I am leaving this world. The reason for my death is my wife Sonam Ali and her brother Akhtar Ali. I request all my friends to give me justice. I was fed beef with death threats. I don’t deserve to live in this world anymore. That’s why I am going to commit suicide. Rohit’s family came to know about the suicide note two months after his death. After this he contacted Surat Police.
How did Rohit meet Sonam?
Rohit Rajput and Sonam used to work together in Surat and that’s how they met each other. Soon they fell in love with each other and wanted to get married. However, Rohit’s family denied their relationship, as Sonam belonged to a different religion. He also threatened her that if Rohit married Sonam, he would break all ties with her. Reportedly, Rohit married Sonam and started living with her. He was not in touch with his family members for the past one year.
The family sought justice
Rohit’s mother has filed a complaint against Sonal and his brother Akhtar Ali. Relatives revealed that Rohit had posted a suicide note on Facebook just before he was hanged. Victim’s mother Veena Devi demanded punishment for the culprits of her son’s death. Surat Police ACP JT Sonara told that the Udhna police station has started investigation by registering a case against Sonam and her brother Akhtar on the basis of suicide note.
