Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will chair the first cabinet meeting with new UP ministers at his residence two hours after taking oath. According to reports, this meeting will be held at 7 pm. Yogi Adityanath on Friday took oath as the CM of UP for a second term in a mega ceremony in the presence of PM Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and top BJP leaders. Along with him, Brajesh Pathak and Keshav Prasad Maurya took oath as the Deputy Chief Ministers of the state.
Let us tell you that despite the defeat from Sirathu seat, BJP decided to retain Maurya in his post. CM Yogi was unanimously elected the leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislature party in the state on Thursday, after which he staked claim to form the government.
Yogi 2.0: 52 ministers took oath
The swearing-in ceremony took place at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The Yogi 2.0 government comprises 52 ministers, including two deputy CMs, 16 cabinet ministers, 14 ministers with independent charge and 20 ministers of state.
Apart from these, Surya Pratap Shahi, Suresh Khanna, Baby Rani Maurya and Swatantra Dev Singh were sworn in as cabinet ministers. Former Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) official Arvind Kumar Sharma also took oath as a minister. He has worked for PM Modi for 18 years and is also called ‘Modi ka man’ in political circles.
Apna Dal (Sonelal) BJP ally Ashish Patel and Nishad Party president Sanjay Nishad also took oath as cabinet ministers.
Former Congress leader Jitin Prasada also made it to the state cabinet. Danish Azad has also been made a minister. He is the only Muslim leader in the Yogi government.
Apart from these, IPS-turned-politician Asim Arun, Nitin Agarwal, Daya Shakar Singh and Kalyan Singh’s grandson Sandeep Singh have been made Ministers of State (Independent Charge).
Significantly, in the 2022 assembly elections, the BJP-led alliance won 273 seats in the 403-member House.
