CUET 2022-23 Common University Entrance Test, CUET is likely to be conducted twice a year from the next academic session. In the prospect of giving hope to the students, the Chairman of the University Grants Commission, UGC has indicated that the National Testing Agency, NTA may consider conducting the CUET twice a year. It is expected to be on the lines of JEE Main exam, which is also conducted twice a year.
UGC President Jagdish Kumar said that CUET will neither destroy the relevance of board examinations nor will it encourage the culture of coaching. No coaching will be required for the exam, so the question of promoting coaching culture does not arise. The advantage will be that the students of the State Board will not suffer in the process of admission to graduate courses / graduation.
In an interview to PTI, the UGC chairman said that it is the responsibility of the NTA to organize the CUET. The work of CUET will not be limited to admission in Central Universities only. Because many reputed private universities have indicated that they are willing to use CUET marks for admission in graduation.
Questions will be asked from 11th also?
Students are worried whether questions will also be asked from class 11 syllabus in CUET. UGC Chairman said ‘No. All the questions that will be asked in CUET will be completely from class 12 syllabus.
“Initially this year CUET will be conducted once, but NTA will consider conducting the exam at least twice a year from the coming session,” he said.
Jagdish Kumar had announced last week that it would be mandatory to use CUET marks and not class 12th marks for admission to 45 central universities in India and central universities may set their own minimum eligibility criteria.
