When in-charge SP cum Headquarters DSP Saroj Kumar Sah applied to present the SP in the court on the next date of the case, then he got permission to go out of the courtroom. The court ordered the SP to appear before it by October 24. The court said that on the orders of the High Court, the matter has to be executed within three months at any cost.
Let us tell you, the murder case which is going on in the court, it is 43 years old case. Ramanuj Singh alias Chhedi Singh was shot dead in Atmiganj village of Nasariganj police station area. This incident of murder had created a stir in the area. On September 18, 1979, a case of murder was registered against 6 accused on the complaint of the relatives of Ramanuj Singh. The hearing of the case was going on in the court. During the hearing itself, four out of the six accused died, but no decision could be taken.
Patna High Court is monitoring the case
Two accused Ram Niwas Singh and Laxmi Narayan Master are still alive, but due to their absence in the court, the hearing was pending. Since the case was being monitored by the Patna High Court. Therefore, there was pressure on the Sessions Court for an early hearing. The High Court had on April 7 this year asked the sessions court to conclude the trial within three months. On the orders of the High Court, the court of ADJ Sasaram Manoj Kumar had ordered an arrest warrant and attachment-confiscation against both the accused Ram Niwas Singh and Laxmi Narayan Master, but the police did not take any action.
Seeing the laxity of the police, the court sent letters several times to ensure compliance of the order. A reminder was also issued to Sasaram district’s SP Ashish Bharti, but the police, bypassing the order of the court, neither arrested nor produced any accused nor presented a report of attachment-confiscation.
SP went on leave before appearing
On the laxity of the police, the ADJ Court issued a show-cause notice to SP Ashish Bharti on June 20. When the SP did not respond to the notice, on July 22, the court issued a letter asking the SP to appear on August 3 and show cause, but SP Ashish Bharti went on leave. In his place, SP cum Headquarters DSP Saroj Kumar Sah appeared in the court. Angered by this, the ADJ court kept him in judicial custody for five hours. However, later the court considered the application given by the DSP for the appearance of the SP and allowed him to go out at 3 pm.
