Sanjay Nishad, the chief of BJP’s ally in Uttar Pradesh, Sanjay Nishad, has given this clarification after a purported video related to the Income Tax department raids of SP leaders surfaced here. In this video, he can be heard saying that if the raids were to be conducted, it should have been done six months ago. He would not have become a criminal in a day. Where were the officers before? This will create anger among their people and they will vote against the government.
New Delhi: Sanjay Nishad, the chief of BJP’s ally Nishad Party in Uttar Pradesh, said on Sunday that he supports the Income Tax department’s searches against SP leaders, but believes the action could have been taken earlier.
Nishad said this when SP chief Akhilesh Yadav played two purported videos of him and alleged that he had to change his stand “after getting a call from Delhi”. On December 18, the Income Tax Department had raided some office bearers of SP.
According to the Indian Express report, in a video related to the matter, Nishad can be heard questioning the Income Tax raids and saying, “This (timing) is definitely not right.” If the raids were to be conducted, it should have been done six months ago. He would not have become a criminal in a day. If someone had black money, it would be years old. Where were the officers before? This will create anger among their people and they will vote against the government.
I support the I-T raids that were held against some people today. We support the government for taking such an action against corrupt people. Atrocities were meted out to Nishads under the same people: Sanjay Nishad, President, Nishad Party https://t.co/219qfLSLhx pic.twitter.com/11waZgFg2e

In the second purported video, Nishad is seen saying, ‘I support the raids conducted today. Action should be taken against such corrupt people. These are the same people who persecute the Nishad community. We support the government on the action taken. A channel had distorted my statement.
Talking to The Indian Express after these videos surfaced, Nishad said, ‘I had said that I am in support and also oppose it. If someone is a criminal then action should be taken against him. I think some officers are wrong, they should have done all this earlier. My language was a bit different. I questioned the timing. That’s what I was saying.
It is known that on December 18, the Income Tax Department searched the residences of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav’s close aide Jainendra Yadav and RCL Group promoter Manoj Yadav in Lucknow. The department also raided the residence of SP’s national secretary Rajiv Rai.
On this raid of Income Tax Department Akhilesh Yadav He had tweeted on December 18, saying, ‘The more the fear of defeat of the BJP will increase. The round of raids on the opponents will also increase. Still, the chariot of SP and every program will continue unabated. Now the public is completely standing with the opposition against the BJP. Now will the BJP government conduct raids on 22 crore people of Uttar Pradesh for 2022.
