New Delhi: India has so far given more than 5 million preventive doses of corona vaccine to health workers, frontline workers and the population above 60 years of age. Terming it as a ‘milestone’, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya urged all eligible people to take precautions.
He tweeted, “Another day, another increased number. Since January 10, over 5 million health care and frontline workers and citizens 60 years and above have received a precautionary dose. I would like to thank all those eligible.” Request you to get your precautionary dose at the earliest.”
In all, 50,84,410 doses have been given, including 19,92,671 doses for healthcare workers, 16,85,446 doses for front line workers and 14,06,293 doses for the population above 60 years.
According to the Health Ministry’s report on Tuesday morning, so far the country has given more than 158.04 crore doses of the vaccine under the National Immunization Campaign. In the last 24 hours, around 80 lakh doses have been administered across the country.
The campaign for a precautionary dose began on January 10 this year.
Meanwhile, a total of 3,59,30,929 doses of corona vaccine have been given to adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 years as their first dose. The vaccination program for adolescents in this age group began on January 3.
