New Delhi: Australia team will play Test series on Sri Lanka tour from June 29. Before this series, Australia has suffered a big setback. Travis Head, who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury, has been replaced by the formidable all-rounder in Australia’s squad. Australia have included Glenn Maxwell in their Test squad as an additional option.
Last match played in September 2017
Maxwell last played a Test match against Bangladesh in September 2017 at Chattogram. He has been included in the squad for the injury to Travis Head.
Maxwell has performed brilliantly in the four matches of the ODI series so far. He has been given a place in the team after his good batting against spin. Overall Maxwell has played 7 Tests, in which he has 339 runs with 1 century to his name. Maxwell hasn’t played a Test for nearly five years, but Australia’s newly-appointed coach Andrew Macdonald recently indicated that the 33-year-old might make a comeback to five-day cricket.
“You never know what’s going to happen,” McDonald’s said on Melbourne radio station Sen last month. “Maxwell has a great record in the subcontinent and in India especially with a century in Ranchi,” he added.

The first Test of the two-match series begins in Galle on June 29, with crucial World Test Championship points at stake. Australia currently holds the top spot in the table while Sri Lanka is at the fourth position.
