Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has announced to increase the salaries of MLAs by Rs 40 thousand in one go. The MLAs received a total salary and allowances of Rs 81,000. Now it has increased to 1 lakh 21 thousand. Apart from this, the total salary and allowances of the state ministers was Rs 1 lakh 9 thousand 900, which has increased to Rs 1 lakh 49 thousand 900. Full ministers of the state used to get Rs 1 lakh 10 thousand and after the announcement of the Chief Minister, it has increased to Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand.
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee On Thursday, he announced the decision to increase the salary in the session chamber of the state assembly. He said that the number of MLAs in the Bengal assembly is the lowest in the entire country. That is why the West Bengal government has decided to increase this salary.
Note that apart from this salary, ministers and MLAs also get many allowances. If that salary and allowances are combined, an MLA of West Bengal Assembly would have received Rs 81,870 per month. In the increased salary structure, every MLA of the state will get a total of Rs 1 lakh 21 thousand 870 per month including salary and allowances.
Mamta Banerjee does not take salary as former MP and CM
On this day, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also told that she has taken this decision thinking about the MLAs and ministers of Bengal. Mamta said in the Assembly, “I do not take salary as a former MP or Chief Minister. I get the royalties of the book, that’s all.” However, Mamata Banerjee has already said this on different occasions.
Let us tell you that in March this year, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced a record salary increase for the MLAs of Delhi. It was increased to 136 percent. Till now the Chief Minister of Delhi used to get a salary of Rs 72 thousand.
After the announcement of Arvind Kejriwal, the salary of the Chief Minister increased to Rs 1 lakh 70 thousand. Not only this, Kejriwal cabinet also announced increase in salary and allowances of all the members.
Salaries of Delhi MLAs were increased a few days ago
Members of the Delhi Assembly received a total of Rs 54,000 including salary and allowances. After Kejriwal’s announcement it increased to 90 thousand. Apart from this, other supporting allowances have also increased.
The AAP government had also decided to increase the telephone allowance by Rs 200. Before this, the salary and allowances of Delhi MLAs were last increased in 2011. Along with this, Telangana MLAs get a salary of Rs 2.5 lakh.
Proposal to increase the salary of Jharkhand MLAs
There is a proposal to increase the salaries of MLAs in Jharkhand also. If the Jharkhand Special Committee’s proposal to increase the salary of MLAs is accepted, then the salary of Jharkhand MLAs will increase by Rs 2.88 lakh, the highest in the country. According to the pay scale of 2001, MLAs of Jharkhand get Rs 19 thousand 800.
In Punjab, MLAs are given Rs 84 thousand. Out of this, Rs 10,000 is given to his driver and personal employees. Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi of Siromani Akali Dal had proposed to Chief Minister Bhagwat Mann last March to form a committee to raise this amount. According to the document of 2022, the salary of MLAs of Uttar Pradesh is Rs 1 lakh 87 thousand.
