Three platforms were built for the oath ceremony
Three main stages are being built for the oath ceremony. Revanth Reddy will take oath as CM on the main stage. This platform is being designed in such a way that MLAs can also sit on the same platform. On the second stage, a special program has been created to reflect Telangana culture and art. A plan was made to bring the families of martyrs of Telangana on another platform. Besides, AICC leaders, Governor and Congress party leaders will also participate in this program.
A day after the elections ousted the two-term Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, the Congress is stuck in a leadership battle, delaying the process of selecting the new CM. The two main contenders for the top post were six-time MLA and former state unit president N Uttam Kumar Reddy, and Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Both of them lobbied the high command for this post citing their seniority and loyalty to the party. However, the central leadership chose Revanth Reddy (54), who had emerged as the face of the winning campaign and the choice of most of the 64 newly-elected MLAs in the state. He ran an aggressive campaign focusing on BRS’s ‘corruption and family rule’.
According to a senior Congress leader familiar with the developments, Rahul Gandhi advocated Revanth’s candidature for the post of CM. Revanth, a three-time MLA, joined the Congress from the Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party in 2017 and was appointed PCC chief in 2021.
Rahul Gandhi supported the candidature of Revanth Reddy
A section of Telangana Congress leaders had termed him an “outsider”. Soon after his appointment as the state party chief in 2021, a section of senior leaders rebelled. However, the high command stood firmly by him and gave him a free hand in selecting candidates and formulating the campaign strategy for the assembly elections.
From winning just 19 seats in 2018 to winning a comfortable majority, the Congress’s transformation in Telangana has been remarkable. The credit for which largely goes to Revanth. He has good relations with the central leaders of the party including Rahul Gandhi.
