Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.
The atmosphere became heated in the meeting of Congress Central Election Committee called on Monday to decide the names of candidates for Rajasthan Assembly elections when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and CM Ashok Gehlot got into an argument. The atmosphere deteriorated so much that Sonia Gandhi had to come to pacify both the leaders. He gestured to both the leaders to remain calm.
In fact, in the Central Election Committee meeting, Rahul Gandhi expressed his displeasure as to why the names of candidates for all the seats in Rajasthan have not been decided yet. He told Gehlot, you were saying three months ago that there is resentment not against our government but against some MLAs. And today you are saying that there is no alternative to them, then why did you not field second line leadership on those seats. On this, Gehlot also started replying by raising his voice a little.
Names of 65 to 70 candidates were finalized
Seeing the heated atmosphere of the Central Election Committee meeting, Sonia Gandhi asked Gehlot to speak slowly and through gestures asked Rahul to remain calm. According to Congress sources, names of 65 to 70 candidates have been finalized in the meeting held on Monday, while the meeting has been called again tomorrow afternoon for the remaining 35 names. Let us tell you that Congress has announced 95 names out of 200 in the first three lists.
There is opposition to the ticket reduction formula.
Both Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot are opposing the formula of cutting tickets in Rajasthan Assembly elections. This is the reason that till now candidates have been announced only for 95 seats. Information has been received that it is certain that the tickets of Shanti Dhariwal, Mahesh Joshi and Dharmendra Rathore, who received notices for not attending the legislative party meeting on September 25 in Jaipur, will be canceled. However, Gehlot is continuously advocating for them citing the adverse impact on the surrounding seats.
